BREAKING: Second women alleges ACNA Archbishop Wood sexually harassed her

The Washington Post reports that a second woman has come forward with allegations that the newly installed archbishop of ACNA, Stephen Wood, sexually harassed her. The news deepens the crisis facing the conservative congregation, which is already facing criticism for its corrupt handling of previous allegations of sexual abuse. Moreover, the denomination has knowingly allowed persons with documented histories of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and other problematic behaviors to serve in leadership positions.

Multiple sources tell Anglican Watch that they are increasingly concerned over the denomination’s fate.

Meanwhile, the Episcopal Church faces its own crisis of leadership, including the failure of church officials to address allegations of child sexual abuse involving Episcopal priest Richard Losch. Multiple leaders, including former presiding bishop Michael Curry, were informed of this situation, including by the Lutheran (ELCA) legal department, but ignored the victim. Others, including retired Alabama bishop Glenda Curry, lied to law enforcement officials investigating the matter, including falsely telling police that Losch no longer served a parish.  The reality, however, is that he served two parishes — and remains a priest in good standing.

Relatedly, multiple church officials, including Bishop Todd Ousley, ignored their legal obligation under state law to report the allegations, despite the passage of time.

  1. Bp. Glenda Curry should be prosecuted for lying to the police. That might be the wake up call the churches need!
