Guidelines

Anglican WatchVisitors are welcome to share thoughts, opinions, reactions and comments. In doing so, please keep in mind the following guidelines:

  • You’re under no obligation to agree with us. In fact, we’d prefer you form your own opinions.
  • Keep it provable. If you make a statement of fact, your claim should provable.
  • Be respectful.
  • Keep it appropriate. Gossip is unwelcome.
  • Avoid ALL CAPS.
  • Don’t attack other commenters.
  • Keep it PG-rated.
  • No ad hominem attacks.
  • No defamation.
  • We don’t clear content with sources. If you ask us to submit content to you for approval, we’ll add you to the ignore list and publish anyway.
  • Don’t go crunchy on us. While we’re pretty progressive, we’re human too. If we’re angry about someone’s behavior, we may call them a “weasel,” “pig,” or something similar. Get over it.
  • Spare us the “don’t use my name” routine. We don’t ask Joe Biden, Donald Trump, or the presiding bishop for permission to cover them. So don’t think we are going to ask you. It’s called the First Amendment.
  • No Q-Anon conspiracy theories. While we are ardent supporters of free speech, we categorically reject anti-government rhetoric and hate, and this is not a First Amendment forum.
  • Engagement is a two-way street. If you try to shut down conversation, expect us to shut you down.
  • Our decisions on moderation are final. While we try hard to be fair, we may edit or disapprove your comment at any time, for any reason, no reason, a bad reason or an irrational reason. If you pester us on these issues, we will ban you without further notice or discussion.
  • Bottom line: When it doubt, leave it out. If your have to ask, you already know the answer.
