As Anglican Watch continues the ongoing investigation into allegations of misconduct at St. James Texarkana and St. Paul’s Dayton, we have uncovered multiple allegations of missing funds and breakdowns of internal controls at both parishes.
Additional concerns we have heard:
- Efforts at St. James to access church endowments.
- Potential misuse of discretionary funds by clergy now at both churches.
- Failure of the vestries at both churches to exercise appropriate governance and supervision over church funds.
- Treating some ministries as off-budget.
We’re working on details, as well as researching allegations that vestry members — past and current — may have prior convictions.
It will be an interesting next few weeks.
